An Attitude of Gratitude

I’m an advocate of positive psychology. In fact I’d go as far to say that it changed my life. I follow the PERMA model. Which concentrates on the following:

Positive emotions, or experiencing optimism as well as gratitude about your past, contentment in the present, and hope for the future.

Engagement, or achieving "flow" with enjoyable activities and hobbies.
Relationship, or forming social connections with family and friends.

Meaning, or finding a purpose in life larger than you.

Accomplishments, or goals and successes.

One easy way to start following this way of living would be with daily gratitude.

Simply think of three things you're grateful for each day. Even if you've had what you'd describe as a "terrible day" and you may think "well, I'm not grateful for the sleep I didn't get, the sore boobs and the hot flushes", I assure you that there will be something in your day that you can be grateful for - a kind word that someone said; your home, your warm bed; a joke on a tv show that made you smile; biscuits, your family, a cup of tea... It can be the simplest thing.

Do this either every morning or every evening. Write it down! Keep a record! Share it on your social media. Give it a go, keep it up and see if it starts to make a positive difference to your mood.
